HOW TO FORM THE PLURAL

PLURAL NOUNS

-S	-ES
We usually add -s to form the plural of a noun: HOUSE = houses PIANO = pianos	POTATO = potatoes TOMATO = tomatoes HERO = heroes
	After a sibilant sound (s, ss, sh, ch, x, z…) we add -es: BOX = boxes CHURCH = churches
Consonant + -y: -y = -i + es FLY = flies Vowel + -y: -y + s MONKEY = monkeys	Words ending in -f or -fe: -f/fe = v + es WOLF = wolves KNIFE = knives SCARF = scarves (also scarfs)
Exception: irregular plural nouns:
child – children woman – women man – men tooth – teeth foot – feet mouse – mice goose – geese ox – oxen	fish – fish deer – deer sheep – sheep
